Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
32 years.
What is your primary product or service?
Advertising and commercial photography.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Both Larry and Robb started as feature newspaper photographers where they learned to work fast in a multitude of environments and improvise with a minimum of equipment. Much of what they learned working with Hasselblads and in the darkroom translates to the modern digital workplace, though having a keen photographic eye is the foundation for their success.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Light Sources' photographers are experienced in a wide variety of assignments and locations. We pride ourselves in being large enough for any job yet small enough to tailor our services to any budget.
Working from our studio and on location for a diverse clientele, we photograph products, architecture, aerials, industrial, interiors, lifestyle, food and most anything related to advertising, public relations and commercial photography.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Our studio is located in the North Metro Atlanta area. Location assignments are welcome.
Provide detailed directions to your location
We are in the Turner Wood and Smith building at the corner of Brenau Ave and Bradford St, one block from the town square.
What type of payments do you accept?
Checks and cash.
Which areas do you service?
Though we primarily serve the Southeastern United States, assignments have taken us as far as Barbados and Bora Bora.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Larry Griffeth & Robb Maag.
What are your hours of operation?
Open most days about 9:00 or 10:00, occasionally as early as 7:00 but some days as late as 12:00 or 1:00. We close about 5:30 or 6:00; occasionally about 4:00 or 5:00 but sometimes as late as 11:00 or 12:00. Some days or afternoons we aren't here at all. Though lately, we've been here just about all the time except when we're someplace else, but we should be here then, too.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
I had no idea that was possible!
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
The word "photograph" was coined in 1839 by Sir John Herschel and is based on the Greek (phos) "light" and (graphĂȘ) "representation by means of lines" or "drawing", together meaning "drawing with light."
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
