Service is the operative word used to describe this joint department of the City of Gainesville and Hall County. Established in 1970, the Community Service Center (CSC) was created with the purpose of coordinating social services, eliminating duplication of services, and identifying gaps within existing social services. The mission of the CSC continues to be assessing needs, forecasting future needs and strengthening the social services already available. CSC programs include:
Senior Services
Senior Center provides activities at 4 locations
Activities include health and wellness promotion, continuing education, recreation and leisure activities
A hot lunch is provided at the Gainesville location
Meals on Wheels serves approximately 450 clients each year
Emergency Assistance helps seniors who are having difficulty paying for utilities
Prescription Medication Assistance helps seniors who are having difficult paying for medication.
Counseling and Psychotherapy Services
Clinical therapeutic services including individual and group counseling for children, adolescents, and adults
Project Kincare which provides support and mental health services to relative caregivers
Parenting Program / Home Based Family Support Services
Intensive in-home parenting education and support for families with children ages birth to 17 (Services are provided in English and in Spanish).
